Radisson Launches Europe’s First Verified Net Zero Hotels

Radisson Hotel Group has taken a major step in sustainable travel by launching its first two Verified Net Zero hotels, located in Manchester and Oslo. Both properties have earned third-party verification from TÜV Rheinland, meeting the rigorous standards of the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels. These standards cover all emission scopes — 1, 2, and 3 — making the properties among the most environmentally-aligned accommodations in Europe.

The Manchester hotel, formerly known as Park Inn, completed its transformation in May 2025 and now operates as the Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre. Meanwhile, Oslo’s reimagined hotel will welcome guests from July 2025 under its new name, Radisson RED Oslo City Centre.
Powered entirely by renewable energy, the two hotels have eliminated all fossil fuel use. Manchester’s site relies on heat pumps for hot water and features induction-based kitchens. In Oslo, the building connects to the city’s green district heating network to provide sustainable indoor comfort.
Radisson’s green strategy goes beyond energy systems. Scope 3 emissions — those linked to suppliers, food, and transport — are being addressed through greener sourcing and logistics. Any remaining emissions are offset using high-quality carbon removal credits from Agreena, a provider supporting regenerative agriculture projects across Europe.
Guests staying at either location can expect a low-impact, high-comfort experience. From waste-minimising practices to nature-conscious menus, the hotels offer a stay that blends luxury with environmental responsibility. With help from Klimato, Radisson redesigned its food offerings to show carbon data and reduce emissions per dish by up to 40%.
‘Today, we are demonstrating that Net Zero conversion hotels are possible. In a conversion approach, the Manchester and Oslo hotels prove that non-sustainable hotels can become high performing asset classes with a positive impact on the planet’, said Federico J. González, Executive Vice Chairman at Radisson Hotel Group. ‘These Verified Net Zero hotels bring the future forward and offer guests the pinnacle of sustainable stays.’
By converting existing hotels into net zero powerhouses, Radisson is setting a new industry standard—and proving that nature-focused transformation in hospitality isn’t just possible, but scalable.
